COLDWELL PREDICTING ANOTHER CURTIS CLASSIC

After playing such a demanding role in one of British boxing’s most brutal performances this year back in April, Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse is ready to return to the stage he loves as he aims to return to winning ways on September 28th following his devastating knockout loss to Dale Miles. After carving out a well-earned reputation as a crowd-pleasing warrior, Woodhouse is desperate to demonstrate his fistic bravado in the higher echelons of the domestic light-welterweight scene but he must get past Derby’s Dave Ryan to fulfil that fight fantasy. Promoter Dave Coldwell is excited about his upcoming feature.

“Curtis Woodhouse is fast becoming one of the most exciting names on the boxing scene because he delivers entertainment every time he fights,” said Coldwell. “His fight against Dale Miles will more than likely rank as the best domestic battle this year and that says a lot when you think about the great fights that we’ve seen this year. Every single time he steps through the ropes all he wants to do is put a show on, his fight against Dave Ryan will be no different and I guarantee anyone buying a ticket that they will be treated to an absolute war.”

Since making the transition from footballer to boxer, Woodhouse’s journey has brought mixed fortunes but the former Birmingham City midfielder has not been found wanting in the guts category and his split decision loos to prized amateur Frankie Gavin in 2011 was conclusive proof that the Yorkshire favourite can compete at a gloried level. With the Dave Ryan scrap serving as an eliminator for the 10st English strap, Coldwell believes that his charge is closing in on title opportunities.

“Curtis has never done things the easy way since he turned to boxing and we knew deep down that he’d have to encounter some tough tasks along the way. He’s finally proved the doubters wrong with recent performances and now we’re in the process of trying to get him access for domestic belts. The light-welter division is wide open in Britain at the moment and I definitely feel that Curtis is in that mix that’s currently competing for the top honours. He’s got a very tough fight coming up against Dave Ryan but it’s a fight that he’ll up for and one that he’ll be going all out to win.”

Curtis Woodhouse v Dave Ryan takes place at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on September 28th and is supported by a quality undercard that features top prospects such as Nav Mansouri and Chad Gaynor. COLDWELL SIGNS WELTER PROPSECT GAYNOR

Dave Coldwell is delighted to announce the signing of unbeaten welterweight sensation, Chad Gaynor. The 8-0 prospect has penned a three-year promotional deal with the fast-rising Coldwell Boxing group after rejecting the advances of a number of interested parties. Coldwell has high hopes for his latest acquisition and is relishing the thought of monitoring his newest charge’s progress over the next 12 months.

“Chad Gaynor is one of the hottest prospects in the UK at the moment and I’m predicting great things for this kid,” revealed an ecstatic Coldwell. “He’s at that stage of his career now where we have to get him the right fights so that he can keep learning. We’re confident that he has what it takes to reach the top in this sport but it’s important that we get our timingright with him. He’s spent a lot of time sparring Kell Brook and that will bring him lots of experience. We’re certainly looking at titles by this time next year. That’s a promise.”

Chad Gaynor will put his unbeaten record on the line on September 28th when he makes an undercard appearance on the highly anticipated Curtis Woodhouse vs Dave Ryan show. Tickets can be purchased at www.coldwellboxing.com where you can also get all thelatest news regarding Coldwell Boxing.

CONROY BUZZING WITH DEBUT DELIGHT

By Chris Walker

As debuts go, Liam Conroy’s fourth round dismantling of the usually stubborn Dan Brown at the back-end of June was as impressive as they come. The Barrow youngster displayed no hint of hesitance as he chipped away at his oft-durable opponent before halting proceedings with a brutal combination. Conroy’s performance earned widespread applaud from within the domestic boxing community and the likeable 19 year old is eager to add more impressive displays to his ledger.

“Everything went perfect for me on my debut and boxing as a professional was everything that I thought it’d be,” revealed the man they call“Terminator.” “The action was a little slower and you have to be a bit more patient with your attacks but once I got going the fight just got easier. My shots were getting through and I was hurting him whenever I landed so I thought the finish might come a little earlier. He done well to take my shots but the right hand I hurt him with was a great punch and I was over the moon when the referee waved it off.”

Despite not possessing the amateur credentials that some of his sporting counterparts may boast, Conroy is the owner of a desire that he feels many fighters are not able to match. A student of boxing, the former Barrow ABC star spends his time away from the gym analysing every single aspect of the sport he loves trying to pinpoint different methods that may be beneficial to his long-term development. This dedication was clearly evident in Conroy’s maiden appearance and the North West prospect is confident that it will deliver him further success.

“Even though there’s people out there that might have won more than me as amateurs, I’ll be very surprised if any of them people are willing to train as hard as I do. The stuff that I’m doing in the gym with my trainers is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I know it’s what needs to be done if I’m to achieve what I want in this game. I’ve got a good team behind me and they know me very well so I leave everything in their hands when it comes to taking fights but I also know that whatever fight is chosen for me, I’ll be more than ready to deal with whoever’s in front of me.”

Liam Conroy is just one of a number of prospects who are looking to go all the way with Coldwell Boxing. For more information on Coldwell Boxing fighters, please visit WWW.COLDWELLBOXING.COM for all the latest news on some of the finest young boxers Britain has to offer.

Kieran Farrell wins the inaugural Coldwell Boxing Boxer of the Season award

‘Vicious’ Kieran Farrell thought his season could not get any better after winning the first title of his career, the Central Area lightweight championship, last month. But the Heywood tyro has topped off a superb period by becoming the first recipient of the Coldwell Boxing Boxer of the Season award, as decided by CB’s media department. In claiming the honour, undefeated Farrell, trained by John Breen, beat off stiff competition from, among others, unbeaten welterweight Nav Mansouri, who in sparring Paulie Malignaggi helped prepare the New Yorker for WBA glory before himself walloping brave Darren Graham, and former amateur standout Hosea Burton whose pro career has got off to a flying start with four straight wins.

But Farrell winning a title and in such devastating fashion – knocking out Joe Elfidh with a typically ‘Vicious’ body shot, inflicting a first defeat upon his victim – gave him the edge. “This is mint,” exclaimed Farrell at the commendation. “With fighters like Curtis Woodhouse who was in a great fight recently, and Ryan Rhodes, it’s an honour to win this.

“My season started badly when a fight fell through but once I started with Dave Coldwell he got me two fights straight away, then a place on the biggest British bill of the year – Froch-Bute in Nottingham – then the title fight. I’m over the moon – this accolade has made my season!”

Coldwell Boxing MD Dave Coldwell wholeheartedly endorses the decision and believes Farrell’s success is reflective of a highly impressive season for his entire team. “Our media team picked the winner and I can’t argue with their choice,” said Coldwell. “Farrell’s win over Elfidh in an exciting fight was one of the highlights of the season for me and I’m so pleased to help this kid go from strength to strength. We have high hopes for him here.

“It’s been a great season all-round with eight shows, three sell-outs, plus our debut on Sky and first British title fight on the same night with Tony Bellew beating Danny McIntosh in April. Then we have several prospects who were undefeated over the season, including Nav, Hosea and Matty Clarkson, a raft of promising new signings like Anthony Jevons and some proven performers who we are helping resurrect their careers in David Barnes and Mark Thompson. I think my new signing Liam Conroy is thefind of the season and I’m excited to see his progress. It’s been a great ride and next season will be even better.”
